The Best of 2018 – I have recently discovered Alex Burke’s large-format landscape photography. These images represent real care and craft. His website is a fantastic resource for the film photographer, too – I’ve learned a lot.

Adventure photography: 2018’s top 5 moments – Andy Wasley shares his top 5 photographic moments from 2018.

Britain’s 44 mile walk where you won’t cross a road – What’s involved? – I don’t usually like challenges that feel contrived, but I must admit I’m intrigued.

Happy 50th birthday to Cicerone guidebooks – Mark Horrell’s great review of a superb book. I’ve just finished reading it myself – it really brightened up my Christmas break.

Intrepid Magazine – One Year On – it’s great to see this new magazine flourish and grow.

New Beginnings – Mark Rickaby ponders the future of his blog. I can relate to many of his frustrations about blogging, but I’m glad to see he’ll keep writing.

Instagram is helping save the indie bookstore – the healthy growth of real books is one of the best news stories from the last year, in my opinion.

Too many problems? Maybe coping isn’t the answer – ‘Half the anxiety of having “too much to do” stems from not seeing that there will always be too much to do – so you can stop struggling to get on top of it all.’

Attitudes and Altitude: a new Sidetracked project, and a journey across the Alps

I'll be spending much of the rest of the summer in the Alps, trekking and a bit of running from Ventimiglia to Zermatt. It's going to be an incredible adventure. I can't wait to begin.
