If you have received two copies of one of my posts, it's likely that you are subscribed both to alexroddie.com (my blog) and alexroddie.substack.com (my Substack page).

In December 2024, as part of a clean-up of my personal online writing, I decided to relaunch my weekly(ish) newsletter under the new title Unplugged. As part of this consolidation, I made the decision to begin cross-posting all content on both alexroddie.com and Substack.

Because my Substack page has been through a couple of different incarnations over the years, some readers will have ended up following me on both. I never set out to confuse people, honest – the new system will be a lot simpler!

To reiterate: the content will be identical on both platforms. But it does mean that you'll need to decide where you prefer to follow my writing.

For more about the background to this change, please see this post.

Here's what you need to do

  • If you prefer to read my work on my personal blog, hosted using the independent Ghost publishing platform, please subscribe at alexroddie.com. Ghost allows you to read articles online, via your RSS reader, or in your email inbox.
  • If you prefer to read my work on Substack, please subscribe at alexroddie.substack.com. Substack allows you to read articles online, in the Substack app, or in your email inbox.
  • If you now find that you're subscribed in both pleases, just unsubscribe to the one you no longer want to receive. There's an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email. You will continue to receive posts from the other platform.
  • That's it! :)

A mountain before breakfast

Every weekday, unless the weather is genuinely terrible, I like to get out and do some exercise before doing anything else. My alarm goes off, I hit snooze once or twice, I drag myself out of bed, I brush my teeth, I check the weather, and then I head out
